Authorising ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) Single Use

If you have a Single Use ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) license and an internet connection, the below steps will guide you through the license authorisation process.

Be it a commercially purchased license in an organisation, or an ArcGIS Personal Use license, the process is the same.

Before you Start

  • Install your ArcGIS Desktop software on your machine, which can be accessed in My Esri under the Download section. Not sure if you have a suitable My Esri account? More information can be found here.
  • You will need to obtain your Single Use license code from either My Esri or your software delivery email. If obtaining your license code via My Esri you will need licensing or administrator permission and will need to navigate to My Organisation > Licensing > Authorisations and then select your product and version from the list.

Get Started

On the machine you have installed your software on, open the ArcGIS Administrator wizard by clicking Start > Programs > ArcGIS > ArcGIS Administrator.

Select the Desktop folder on the left side and ensure that you have chosen the appropriate Single Use license level (Advanced, Standard or Basic) and select the Authorise Now button. Note: for Personal Use select Advanced

On the following panel, choose the option “I have installed my software and need to authorise it” and then select the Next button.

In the Authorisation Method panel, choose the option “Authorise with Esri now, using the internet” and select the Next button.

Fill in the personal information fields, ensuring that the required fields are completed and then select the Next button.

You will also need to complete your organisation’s information on the following page and choose Next to proceed.

In the field provided, enter your ArcGIS Desktop single use license code and select the Next button.

On the following panel, you will have the option to add the license codes of any additional extensions you may have purchased and will need to select the second option (I have authorisation number(s) to authorise one or more extensions) and then enter your license code in the relevant field. If you have none, choose the the first option and select Next.

On the following page, you have the option to evaluate extensions for a period of 60 days. If you wish to do so, you may select the arrow beside the extensions you wish to trial. If you do not wish to evaluate, simply leave this blank and select the Next button.

Your software will then connect to My Esri over the internet to authorise your license and you will receive notification that this has finished.

You may then close your ArcGIS administrator wizard and open ArcMap and begin working.
